Cedar Lane

Here you can see who lives in the village on Cedar Lane, what work they have and how they came to live in MV

Bill Waddlington

You can often see Bill wandering through town babbling to himself. He is usually going over ideas he has and its possibilities, looking at empty spots while babbling to himself and looking at it from all angles. He often wanders to other towns and fairs, getting ideas for his growing village.

After receiving a letter from his brother in England, he walked around the village, mumbling. Finally he asked his financial advisor Peter Pettyfur how they could make it happen, did people find out that he wanted to build several houses, so more people could move to town. That’s when Cedar Lane came into being, a street with a row of houses on either side of the street. On one side there are houses that are shared by two families and on the other side houses for one family. At the end of the street there’s a hospital, Cedar Clinic. How he finds new families to move into these homes is another story or stories

These are the families living on Cedar Lane. If you click on their names it will take you to them.

Ryan and his family came from a neighboring village. Ryan used to work in a Real Estate agency in the city and had to take the bus to work every day. On his way to work everyday, riding in the bus, he could see how MV started to grow and expand and he really liked what he saw. So after a meeting with Bill and Peter it was decided that he could get one of the older small shops on the square to open a Real Estate shop and  a shared apartment on Cedar Lane. Today he's so happy to be able to spend the time with his family instead of on the bus and his business is blooming. He's very good at reading his customer needs and is well known for his friendly approach.

Myriam used to take the bus with Ryan to her work in the city every day too. After Ryan told her their plan, in the bus one day on the way to work, she began to wonder if this might be something for her family. She thought that she would love to open her own shop instead of working for others and not to have to take the bus anymore. She is not one who just thinks about things but likes to take action so she talked to her family, then to the Forresters and finally to Bill and Peter. She managed to get one of the small shops on the square and a shared house with the Forresters on Cedar Lane. Maurice still takes the bus to to work but he doesn't mind, as he likes the peace he gets there but Myriam is very proud of her shop where she sells baby and kids clothes and accessories.

Uncle Albert

In one of Bill’s tours he came across a carnival just outside a city, as he walked through it talking to himself, looking at the people and what they were selling or the rides they had, he saw two men. One was selling paintings and talking to customers the other one was painting portraits of those who wanted. On the side line stood a woman, she looked tired and big, like she was expecting. And like only Bill knows how, he got her to open up. If you want to read more click here.

Albert hasn't found a place that he wants to call a home so he stays at his sister's for now. He can often been seen around the countryside with his paint easel.

The Silks were actually just passing through MV. They both come from good families so to speak, but they hadn’t found their spot in life. The country life didn’t appeal to them. Fred liked to work but not all work suited Holly, she wanted to be a stay at mom, or more a NOT working mom. As city life was expensive that would have been hard. As they stopped and were wandering around the square, they met Bill, he was curious about this couple who looked like they stepped out of a magazine, definitily not campers. It didnt take him long to realized that they would bring a nice new dimension to his growing village. As usual he was good at reading what they wanted and what they were searching for, even though they had no idea themself. He showed them an empty shop in the square and said that this one has just been rented out to a real-estate agent and a lawyer, and the one beside it was under renovations for the tourist information office. Then he walked away with them out of the square, telling them how much this village was growing but that it keeps family values in high regard and with that in mind aim at moms or dads who could or want to stay home, many choose to run one business together. As they walked they came up on a spot where a few new shops were and more were half built. He told them that more than half of the shops in progress, were already promised but one or two were still available.  He told them about all the new shops that were coming, some in old buildings but many in brand new ones. He also told them about Cedar Lane where all the houses were lined up just like abroad, but on one side two families shared but on the other side there would only be one family per house. He also told them about all the Mansions around and all the founder families that still lived there. He told them about his plans on making this a tourist paradise, where people from the city could come and relax and envy those who got to live there.

It wasn’t many days later that Fred contacted Bill to ask if there still was a vacant shopping building and if there was a vacant house, “on the right side of the street”, Bill heard Holly shout behind him.

Today Fred runs the China Shop, where shining delicate table ware are sold.

During one of Bill's many trips he wandered into a shoe booth in a market, where he met Darcy and Bridget. Darcy was busy repairing shoes that people brought to him. There was also a  few pairs that Darcy made himself. The workmanship on them was really great and it was obviously made with great love. When Bill finally got them to open up he found out that they had dreamed about opening a shoe shop where they would only sell Darcy's shoes. Bill told them about MV and that it was the place where dreams do came true. They were very skeptical, especially if they would be able to get affordable accommodation so Bill told them about Cedar Lane where there was an option to share a house with another family, but they almost panicked thinking about sharing a home with strangers. Bill finally got them to agree on coming for a visit and that there were other housing possibilities as well, but with held  the fact that it was mostly in old Stables and tents in the forest where Critters were very close to each other. He thought to himself that this will all work out.

When they arrived Bill started by showing the newly built shop they could have and he could see in their eyes that they wanted this but knew housing would be a problem. Bill arranged a dinner with the Pettyfurs that night, if anyone could make them at home it would be Penny. And like he had predicted she did. Their faces practically glowed when they left Courtyard Restaurant and talked about how everyone were so friendly, knew each other and cared

Peter is the Financial Consultant for MV. His biggest challenge is to finance all the ideas Bill gets and make them possible. Penny works part time as a secretary at Town Hall, something that was only going to be temporary in the start but Penny loves it so much that she doesn't want to quit. They share home with the Fielding on Cedar Lane something that Peter had not imagined but after the dinner with them Penny decided it would be in best interest for all and told Peter that if he wasn't ready to share a home with someone how could he expect others to? She just didn't want a corner house or the one next to the hospital. This has turned out very well and Andrew loves this arrangement, he loves food and is the first one to the table and first thing he asks about when he gets home. So now if his parents aren't home Bridget will make sure he doesn't get hungry.

The Norwood have live in MV for generations, they had a house in the Creek but wanted to get closer to the village so they talked to their good friends the Beagle who they knew were looking for a new home to and it was decided that they would give a shared home a try.

The Norwoods have had a news stand handed down from father to son but for the last generation there haven't been enough customers to keep it open so W.H. works at MV Library, work he loves but he dreams about open the family news stand one day specially now that so many are moving to MV and more and more tourists are coming.

Like the Norwood the Beagle have lived in Mv for generations. They had a very old house and Percy was getting really tired of repairing it all the time and said again and again that this is it, it's beyond repair. They were very happy to give a shared house with their friends the Norwoods a try. Not only does Percy not have to spend all his free time on the house but the kids are closer to their friends and Prunella doesn't feel as isolated specially now when they have so many small kids.

Percy is one of the busiest critter in MV he's a carpenter and after Bill came and new critters started to move to MV he is busy all day long with building homes or changing some of the buildings into homes, shops or whatever Bill comes up with. He even now has a work shop that he shares with Bob where he has a place for all his tools and critters can come to that needs to find him and leave a message. He even has two workers the Evergreen brothers. He's very happy with all this and working close with Bob and Rolf on projects for Bill can be very challenging.

Cameron found out about MV through the newspaper where he worked as a journalist and had a weekly column. His coworkers were talking about it and some adds were coming from there some that were little strange if you asked him. Finally his curiosity made him take a trip to MV. He talked to Bill and other residents and took some sightseeing trips. Many days after he came home he thought about that place and convinced his wife Rowena to take a family trip there over a weekend. Rowenda worked as a editor at a female magazine, her main complains were about not having time for their kids or herself. Something Cameron thought was odd as she seemed to have many more hours in her day than he did in his and thought with horror to the time when she took a week trip with her friends and left him with the kids and home, needless to say he didn't do much work that week. Rowena immediately fell in love with MV and after the trip they talked for hours about how lovely it was and how much fun it could be to be part of it. So today they are working on publishing a weekly newspaper for MV where Rowena will be editor and Cameron main journalist, he still has his weekly column at his old newspaper at least to start with. After he moved he often found himself thinking of his old friend Rupert and what he would think of this and that. He does read all his books even though many of them are little too scary for him. Cameron knows that for Critters that don't know him and Rupert very well it looks like the only think that they acree on is to disagree.

Elmar and Mae grew up in MV but moved to the city. They never felt at home there and decided to move back to MV specially now that the village is growing and work opportunities are much better. May has always loved doll houses, after a long talk with her brother she decided to open a real Doll house shop. The girls in MV love this shop and are many times seen there and more and more doll house boxes are seen under the Christmas tree or at birthday parties. Mae sometimes jokes that maybe she should have a wish list like couple do before their wedding. Parents can however always ask her what it is their daughter wants the most and today she has never been wrong.

Bill wanted better health service in MV Dr. Murdoch was there twice a week but with so many moving to MV and so many tourist visiting every day not to mention all the babies being born (is it something in the water) it just wasn't enough. So he got it through that at the end of Cedar Lane would be a hospital. Top floor would be a small apartment, middle floor for hospital beds and ground floor for reception, babies control and examination room. Dr. Murdoch was very helpfull and even gave Bill a list over Critters he would recommend. From the list the Nightingale stood out, Thomas was a paramedic with license to drive a ambulance and Emily was a very experienced nurse. And so it was that the Nightingale moved to MV, they decided to adopt and thereby share this luck they found them self be handed and they ended with adopting two babies, they just couldn't resist them. finally the Hospital is up and in operation so now they can focus on making their apartment a home for them and their little family.

Dr. Murdock is at the Hospital 2 days a week with nurse Kitsune and those days are Nightingale days off.

Dr Chantilly is at the Hospital 4 days a week and on call the fifth.

Dr. Charcoal (surgeon) is there 1 day a week.

Dr. Corgy (otorhinolaryngologists) is there 1 a week

Carla Macavity is the medical secretary
